HIS VOICE TODAY
Date:08 September, 2016
Topic: REMAIN SIMPLE
Text: 1 Sam 15:17
You must remain simple, despite authority of influence. God’s
servant, Dr. Paul Enenche shared a story of how that he went to a hospital to
see someone, the receptionist barely answered by greeting, then he sat down and
waited. The doctor there, a consultant surgeon, who was His junior in the
university, came in and went on his knees while the receptionist was just
looking listless, careless and carefree.
It doesn’t matter how people behave towards you; what
matters is that you are conscious of who you are. Don’t struggle to be known,
just ‘know’. Until people are told, let them be unaware of who you are or that
you have one billion naira in your account.
Humility implies that things around you may have changed but
you remain normal and calm. Despite the fact that the car you are riding or the
house you are living is far better than the previous one, even though you have
more money than before, you remain humble and calm. it implies that your
disposition remains, the same as it was before you had power, position or
wealth.
When you are humble, you will not expect people to worship you; you
will not suddenly become an oppressor, controller or manipulator of men.
There are some people that money has induced to manipulate other
people’s lives; they like to tell people who to marry and what to do with their
lives just because they have wealth and influence. No, you shouldn’t exercise such
authority over people’s lives.
As I was growing up, I was taught that when your
senior enters a place, you must stand up. Till today, it’s an abomination for
me to remain seated when someone in authority is standing; ‘impossican’t!’ Today,
many people don’t apply this wisdom.
Remember this: it doesn’t
matter how people behave towards you; what matters is that you are conscious of
who you are.
Assignment:
1.
Meditatively go over this message again.
2.
Continually ask God for the grace to remain
small in your own eyes
Prayer:
Lord, I
receive grace to remain calm and normal in spite of the height you are taking
me to, in Jesus’ Name.
