Topic: Always Return To Bethel

Gen 28:19-22

After Jacob stole Esau birthright and Blessing, he ran away; he was afraid, intimidated, agitated and faced with an uncertain future. On the way He had an encounter with God. He built an altar there and made promises to God.

It is easy for people to make promises to God when they are hungry, frustrated or on the run, but when money, deliverance or result comes, strange gods begin to appear in their Lives and achievements become their gods.

On the way, Jacob made a promise to God saying, ‘You alone shall be my God’, but when money came, he got wives and concubines. All of a sudden his life was filled with strange gods until he returned to bethel in Genesis 35:2, when he instructed his family to wear clean garments.

You must never forget where and how you started because when you forget your root, you lose your throat.

Don’t forget the Hasty Pledge, urgent vows and great promises you made when you were looking for Divine intervention. To forfeit them is to forfeit your destiny.

God has stopped doing things for some people because of unfulfilled promises on their part. ‘Bethel’ may not only be physical; it could also be in your Heart.
It may just be a day of fasting and prayer, when you try to remember where God brought you from and where you are now. It shows God that without Him, you are still nothing. It will calm you down and impact humility, sincerity and intimacy with God.

Lord with Your help, I shall remain small in my own eyes because everything I  am and have I owe you, in Jesus’ Name.
